Pirate saber – pirate, bucaneer or corsair sword for larp, larp battle and cosplay:
Saber 78cm, 505g
SABRE Softened foam saber for larp. The basket is decorated with a pirate motif of a skull and crossbones.
LENGHT – 78 cm (blade 59 cm), 505 g, center of gravity 5 cm from the basket. Its perfectly balanced and excellent for fencing. Pirates loved this shorter piece because it allowed them to be mobile on board a ship with lots of ropes everywhere,
COLOR – steel or bronze
Strong durable blade and basket. The basket itself is devised so that it really covers the hand even when hard intervention.
Pirate saber is typical:
There is lack of space on the sailboat and ropes are hanging everywhere. A short maneuverable blade is therefore much better than a long sword or rapier.
The fight is often fierce and contact, so the advantage is a strong basket that well covers the hand.
The iron basket is more reliable than the bronze. Bronze or gold baskets liked cavalry or army officers. But pirates and buccaneers preferred the whole steel weapon because it was more practical and reliable.
The most common was a basket with no ornaments at all. But people like to decorate the weapon, and therefore the old warriors used to have a decorated basket of sabers. On a pirate ship often skull or death.
Some famous corsairs and pirates had their own saber and flag badges that were typical and characteristic of them. Blackbeard used a mermaid, Francois L’Olonais seashell, Henry Morgan a blazing heart combined with a skull or a crow, Augustin used his own coat of arms. These special models will be available soon.
