Dao is sword lightweight, easy to handle and durable. It is excellent in the hands of an experienced larp swordsman, a good weapon for girls or children – because it is light and relatively short.
Length 85 cm, weight 250g
Like all sabers, the center of gravity is relatively far from the crossguard and goes beyond the tip. But this is right with the saber, unlike the double-edged sword.
Dao is a lightweight single-edged Chinese sword. Its design is about 2,000 years old. It became an inspiration for whole groups of single-edged swords – both Korean and Japanese, but at the same time the Dao in China were glimpsed by nomads (Huns and later Turkmeni) and brought to the West in various modifications. Under the influence of Dao, kilidj Turk swords were inspired by the Hungarian sabers. And at the same time, another variation on Dao – Persian Shamshir and Indian Talwar and Arabic Scimitar inspired by him. When the nomads were pulling into Europe, Dao-derived swords also came to Russia and inspired the creation of the Cossack clown or the Polish saber – and the modern European saber was derived from it. For simplicity, we sometimes call these single-edged swords sabers – though they differ in many details. From this you can see how hilarious the Dao sword weapon has been since its inception.
